A seasoned communications professional and trained journalist, Richard has more than 30 years’ experience as a writer, editor and corporate communications manager.

Over the course of his career he has developed a wide range of capabilities, including issues and reputation management, corporate social responsibility, financial communications, and media relations. He has brought his skills and knowledge to both agency and in-house communications roles, in the private and public sectors for clients in Energy, Finance and Banking, Technology, Building, Sport, Property Development and Transport.

Before moving into corporate communications, he honed his writing skills in newspapers and magazines, including a stint as staff writer at Metro Magazine. Richard had an extensive OE in London where he wrote for, and edited a business magazine. On returning to New Zealand he joined the National Business Review before moving to a public relations agency. Richard’s experience includes communications management roles with Genesis Energy, AMP Ltd, and Auckland Rugby.

Richard enjoys working with his colleagues and client partners to deliver positive, business-focused results. He is known for his strategic communications planning, pragmatism and straight-forward media relations.

When not at work, Richard enjoys time with his family, including chauffeuring his youngest son to ballet classes, thrashing his Telecaster and keeping his garden under control. He is also a published book author: Secrets and Knives – featuring top New Zealand chefs – was published by Harper Collins in 2001.
