Ellie has moved between journalism and public relations over the past three decades across New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Her background includes a stint as a political editor based in the press gallery in Wellington before jumping the fence to work as a press secretary. She has also written for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Times in London with a focus on business and personal finance. Ten years in Australia saw her inside public relations agencies and in the health sector for medical research institutes and a private hospital. Back in New Zealand, she worked in infrastructure with time at Fletcher Building, KiwiRail and Refining NZ, moving on to write for BusinessDesk and The Listener.
Over the years, Ellie has accrued a good nose for news, solid writing skills, a love of stakeholder management and an appreciation for good crisis management. And a generous wardrobe of Dad jokes.
When Ellie’s not at work, she’s helping an environmental charity, supporting her children with horse riding and a menagerie of pets, and working with her husband on their small farm up North.
"I joined Wright Communications because of its superb reputation and multiple wins as PRINZ PR Consultancy of the Year, the ability for senior staff to work closely with clients to deliver excellent projects and campaigns, and the agency’s focus on sustainability, which is close to my heart."
