Calling all South Waikato tradies and building suppliers

For South Waikato Investment Fund Trust

The South Waikato Investment Fund Trust (SWIFT) has three great contract opportunities coming up in the next few months for South Waikato building tradespeople and building material suppliers.

SWIFT is keen to have South Waikato tradespeople and suppliers tender for these three projects and will be hosting an Information Day at the South Waikato Events Centre, Tokoroa on Thursday 20 May from 4-8pm.

 The three projects are:

These three construction projects are being funded through SWIFT, a community-owned economic development fund dedicated to South Waikato’s prosperity.

SWIFT Chairperson Bruce Sherman says the largest of the three projects – the $14 million South Waikato Trades Training Centre – made possible by grants from the Provincial Growth Fund, Trust Waikato and SWIFT is being developed alongside Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology who will be the training provider. The Centre will cater for up to 500 students a year.

“The goal of the Trades Training Centre is to provide an aspirational pathway to employment for our local people, fully equipping them with the knowledge, skills and support for the future of work.

The Centre will be a combined 3500m2 of learning, four workshops and staff space with a commercial kitchen, café and barber shop.  It will also have a space allocated for a digital and entrepreneurial hub to help address the digital divide and assist young people into their own businesses.

“We strongly encourage South Waikato tradespeople and building suppliers especially as well as others from across the Waikato region to tender for this work to help assist the local economy and to provide job and learning opportunities.”
