Wright Communications Unveils 2024 Sustainability Report: ‘Doing the Right Thing’

Wright Communications, a pioneering sustainability-focused PR agency, proudly announces the launch of its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, social impact, and ethical business practices.

This annual report highlights the agency's biggest achievements and key initiatives over the past year, including a remarkable 53% reduction in CO2 emissions, contributions of $100,000 in pro bono services, and groundbreaking efforts in modern slavery reporting and climate action narratives.

Nikki Wright, Managing Director of Wright Communications, said:

“In a year where many organisations have been forced to prioritise economic viability over sustainability, we’ve continued to help our clients navigate this complex trading environment while remaining true to their sustainability objectives. Buoyed by the ongoing commitment of our clients and partners, we have also deepened our own commitment to 'doing the right thing.' This report reflects our dedication to transparency, innovation, and making a meaningful impact both within our industry and beyond."

Key Highlights of the 2024 Report:

  • People-Centric Culture: Prioritising team wellbeing through flexible working, a dedicated Wellbeing Day, and initiatives like the "Agency Ready" internship programme to support Māori, Pasifika, and Asian PR students.
  • Sustainability Leadership: Support for clients like Genesis Energy with climate reporting and modern slavery disclosures, reinforcing transparent and actionable sustainability strategies.
  • Community Engagement: Strategic PR services for charities and innovative partnerships like bartering communications expertise for fair-trade chocolate with Bennetto.
  • Operational Excellence: Achieving a 51% reduction in its carbon footprint, maintaining Toitū carbonzero certification for the seventh consecutive year, and setting ambitious goals aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

The report also introduces emerging focus areas, such as nature reporting and integrating cultural narratives through Te Ao Māori perspectives, reflecting Wright Communications' adaptability in a fast-changing landscape.

"Our sustainability journey is deeply intertwined with our values and our clients' successes," added Nikki Wright. "We are proud to lead conversations around greenwashing, climate action, and authentic storytelling, inspiring positive change for businesses and communities alike."
