Voting opens for NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards People’s Choice Award

By Wright Communications

All entrants for the People's Choice award have been through a rigorous series of steps; from participation in the SBN's Get Sustainable Challenge, through to regional judging and awards, and now are running for the NZI National SBN Awards. The public will get their chance to vote for the business they think should win the People's Choice title.

Vodafone head of community and government relations Roger Ellis says Vodafone - a key sponsor of the NZI National SBN Awards for many years - is pleased to be the category sponsor of the People's Choice Award again this year.

"It is great to see so many sustainable businesses being recognised not only by the business community but also by the general public. The People's Choice Award gives New Zealanders the chance to vote for those businesses that are making real and positive change."

Rachel Brown, Chief Executive of the Sustainable Business Network agrees.

"We want people to know that we have a growing number of fantastic businesses actively improving their sustainability performance. The People's Choice Award and participation process is a great opportunity to raise awareness and get Kiwis on board, talking about sustainable businesses and raving about their achievements."

"It also allows us at SBN to showcase some of the amazing things businesses are doing. All of the regional award winners are finalists and so are in the running for the People's Choice Award. This is a great chance for their supporters to get behind them and for their savvy leadership to be rewarded," says Brown.

Entries for the People's Choice Award close on 28th October, with the winner announced at the NZI National Sustainable Business Awards event at Shed 10 Auckland on 8th November.  The theme of the awards this year is 'Highlighting the Best'.  Sustainable Business Network chief executive Rachel Brown says she is looking forward to celebrating sustainable best practice demonstrated by an increasing number of New Zealand businesses.

For those curious about sustainable business, you can check out the SBN's Sustainable City Showcase which is open to the public on the 9 November, an event that will showcase both SBN's Network and the wider sustainable environment to inspire and create a strong sustainability presence on the revitalised Auckland Waterfront.  Visit sustainable.org.nz for more information.
