Transport operators must pass on fuel price increases

Transport operators must pass on the substantial fuel price increases resulting from the Iran conflict says National Road Carriers Association.

“Today we have seen the first impact of the Iran conflict on fuel prices with many suppliers increasing the price of diesel by 44 cents per litre,” says NRC GM Policy and Advocacy James Smith.

“This is the largest jump in fuel prices since 2008 and it is likely that we will see more increases as supply chains are impacted.

“For transport operators there is no choice but to pass on these increases to customers.

“Transport businesses operate on small margins and cost increases of this magnitude will need to be passed on immediately.

“We expect this will impact the cost of living as increased transport costs will likely flow through to increased prices of goods on supermarket shelves and price increases for the 93% of all products that are delivered by truck.”
