Sustainability Report first for Wright Communications

By Wright Communications

After producing several sustainability reports for clients ranging from Air New Zealand to Moana, Wright Communications has taken the plunge and produced its inaugural sustainability report.

Managing Director Nikki Wright said the report reflects the agency’s continuing commitment to help companies do the right thing through corporate social responsibility programmes and sustainability reporting.

“I am particularly proud that we have taken the time to match our organisational values to our material topics and then link these to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals which are then linked back to the strategic goals of the business,” she said.

Wright Communications researched its material topics by canvassing its employees, clients and suppliers through focus groups, surveys and one-on-one interviews.

“It was an incredibly valuable process for us; not only for the report but also for helping to inform our business and sustainability priorities,” Nikki said.

The consultancy’s ongoing effort to do the right thing resulted in progress in several areas in 2018:

  • The contribution of $180,000 in time and professional services to community service providers;
  • Measuring and reporting total Scope 1, 2 and 3 Greenhouse Gas emissions produced by business activities; and
  • A commitment to offset 100 per cent of the GHG emissions produced by the Managing Director’s daily commute to work.

Wright Communications set itself apart from its competitors early on with its focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which has become increasingly important for many of its clients over the past 12 years.

During that time, Wright has worked with some of New Zealand’s largest businesses on a variety of CSR projects, including CSR strategies, community investment reviews, sustainability reports and materiality assessments.
