Surf Life Saving Northern Region appoints new Chief Executive

By Wright Communications

The appointment comes following a robust search to find suitable candidates for the position and after extensive consultation with the Surf Life Saving Northern Region Board of Directors.

Williams, a University of Auckland graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Law, has been Acting CEO of the organisation since October 2015, following the resignation of the former incumbent.

SLSNR Chairman Blair Cranston says the appointment is great news for the organisation.

"Matthew has been doing a superb job for the organisation and brings to the role considerable skill and experience including a deep understanding of all facets of Surf Life Saving and the complex environment we currently operate in."

With a solid understanding of the organisation's strengths and challenges, Williams says he is excited to continue the work alongside the clubs and stakeholders to ensure the organisation's continued success.

"SLSNR is a key volunteer emergency service which offers so much to the community through both our patrolling and rescue operations as well as Community Education, Junior Surf and Sporting opportunities."
