Reserve Sauvignon Blanc shows Marlborough’s magic

By Wright Communications

The wine backs up the popular view that 2015 delivered one of the best Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc harvests in years. A perfect cool climate growing season saw superb ripening conditions leading to an early harvest of fruit bursting with intense Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characters.

Gunn Estate prides itself on crafting the best of wine classics as it strives to produce quality, regional New Zealand wines with varietal fruit expression and complexity. This new release delivers on all counts.

In the winery the emphasis was on fruit expression to draw out and maximise the vibrant and intense characters in the finished wine. Cold dejuicing, fermentation with carefully selected yeasts and gentle handling have delivered a Marlborough classic in the bottle.

Fresh and lively but undoubtedly approachable, this wine is a mouth-watering proposition for Sauvignon Blanc lovers over the summer ahead and may even convert a few non-believers.

Tasting Note: Pungent floral and guava aromas supported by cut grass and fresh sage. The palate entry is full with a fruit sweetness carrying through the mouth before ripe acid caresses the finish.

Food match: Home made tuatua, mussel or pipi fritters with a fresh green salad.

Recommended retail price: $17.99.

Gunn Estate Reserve Range: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Merlot/ Cabernet.

Gunn Estate Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is available at all good supermarkets.
