In the same way that gumboots go with Swannies, cows eat grass, and sheep grow wool, Hilux and Fieldays are more than natural partners; they are icons joined at the hip, inseparable and irrefutable.
Which is why Toyota New Zealand is so excited to be back at Fieldays in June and with a presence that solely features the one and only, legendary Toyota Hilux.
Unapologetically, the Toyota 2023 Fieldays stand will be all things Hilux; from the latest models on display to Hilux-based games and Toyota Brand Guardians, Dame Lisa Carrington, Matt Watson, Marc Ellis, Emma Twigg, and Willie Apiata.
Toyota NZ Vice President of Marketing, Andrew Davis, says the bond between Hilux and Fieldays was so strong it was a no brainer to feature the Hilux in Toyota’s return to the greatest agricultural show in the Southern Hemisphere.
“We are excited to be back at Fieldays to provide customers the opportunity to come and speak to us and check out the entire Hilux range while also having our Brand Guardians present and multiple brand activations for everyone to enjoy,” Andrew says.
As well as around a dozen Hilux on display, including the Dakar Rally-inspired Hilux GR Sport, the Toyota stand will have several “activations” including a Hilux quiz, competitions, and cool prizes such as a fishing trip with Matt Watson. And being Fieldays there will also be a few added treats for anyone thinking of purchasing a Hilux at the show.
Toyota NZ Vice President of New Vehicles, Steve Prangnell, says pretty much the full range of new Hilux will be on show at Fieldays.
“This really will be the House of Hilux. A whole new stand and plenty of activity to remind us of the contribution Hilux has made to the New Zealand agricultural economy over the decades,” he says.
“Despite some delays in the last 2 years, we have plenty of good stock of Hilux and Toyota is at Fieldays to sell them. We are keen to ensure we are selling the latest technology to our agricultural customers.”
“Hilux has been with us for more than 40 years. It’s a classic Toyota that just keep getting better and better. The latest iterations are no doubt the best, such as the new wide track Hilux SR5 Cruiser with its beefed-up suspension and increased stopping power, courtesy of new rear ventilated disc brakes or the GR Sport with more power and torque.”
Hilux buyers at Fieldays will get an extra $1,500 of accessories and free servicing. There is also a free tray offer for the Hilux SR 4WD Extra Cab Chassis.
Toyota NZ is also committed to reducing and removing carbon dioxide emissions from its operations. To reduce energy-related emissions from the Fieldays stand, it will be powered by a hydrogen generator, recently arrived in New Zealand from a Toyota technology partnership in Europe.
The hydrogen generator is essentially a large fuel cell, which converts hydrogen to electricity via a complex piece of technology and chemistry. It was developed and built in Europe using Toyota Fuel Cell technology, the same tech that sits within the Toyota Mirai car and Emirates Team New Zealand’s hydrogen powered chase boat, Chase Zero. The hydrogen generators will be available for commercial use, such as construction sites and events, from Toyota NZ.
In a move to further improve the sustainability of the Toyota Fieldays stand, Toyota has partnered with Closed Loop, a Fieldays sustainability supplier that develops and provides recycling programmes.
Toyota’s House of Hilux stand will participate in the Simply Cups initiative, which collects paper coffee cups and sends them to a Hamilton-based company called saveBOARD, which turns used beverage and food cartons into sustainable low carbon building materials such as rigid air barriers, wallboards, and roofing substrate.
So, if you are visiting the House of Hilux at Fieldays and happen to have a coffee at the stand, don’t forget to drop your empty cup into one of the Simply Cups collection tubes at the stand.
