Lexus unveils new concepts under ‘Discover’ at Japan Mobility Show, redefining luxury mobility

Lexus has unveiled bold new concept vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025 under the theme ‘Discover,’ merging innovation, craftsmanship, and imagination to create an immersive luxury experience

At JMS 2025, Lexus revealed a bold lineup of concepts spanning land, sea and air. From the LS family of chauffeur-focused luxury vehicles to the Sport Concept and Catamaran, each demonstrates Lexus’ commitment to redefining how people move and live, reflecting a vision for fully integrated mobility and lifestyle experiences.

Each of the concept models embodies a different interpretation of ‘Discover’ – exploring new frontiers in design, technology and human experience. From land and water travel to immersive performance, Lexus’ new concept lineup represents a glimpse into the brand’s evolving future.

“This is an exciting moment for Lexus globally and for our customers here in New Zealand,” says Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand. “New designs, new in-car experiences and an even higher level of sustainable craftsmanship make for a really exciting time for Lexus. To see these visionary concepts revealed in Tokyo – the global centre of design and innovation - is something truly special.”

Five new innovations under ‘Discover’:

  • Lexus LS Concept – Discover Sanctuary
A reimagined flagship redefining “Luxury Space,” A new realm of travel befitting a true chauffeur-driven car, with a six small wheel format for greater internal space, envisioned from VIP-centric space and use scenarios. An interior space isolated from the bustle, filled with security and relaxation.
  • Lexus LS Coupe Concept – Discover Duality
Refined formality and dynamic emotion, balancing a sporty, sleek exterior with a spacious interior where each occupant can enjoy their own unique experience.
  • Lexus LS Micro Concept – Discover Essence
A fully autonomous micro-mobility vehicle offering privacy and comfort in an elegant, compact design. Made for full autonomous driving.
  • Lexus Sport Concept – Discover Immersion
A next-generation sports car with a low, wide profile and immersive cockpit that brings drivers closer to the essence of performance.
  • Lexus Catamaran Concept – Discover Escapism
A private “Luxury Space” on water – powered by solar-panel sails, offering a serene, zero-emission cruising experience

Each concept demonstrates how Lexus is transforming mobility into a lifestyle by blending technology, design, and emotion in ways that go far beyond a car.

At JMS 2025, Lexus continues its journey towards becoming a design-led luxury lifestyle brand, showcasing a seamless blend of performance, innovation and craftsmanship.

“With over 80% of all Lexus vehicles sold in New Zealand now electrified, we’re focused on offering sustainable options without compromising on luxury, design or driving pleasure,” says Andrew.

“There is a clear commitment to delivering even more choice, quality and innovation – from vehicles designed for everyday enjoyment to the most refined luxury experiences.”

In New Zealand, Lexus’ focus is on crafting extraordinary experiences for drivers – from the attention to detail in design and materials, to cutting-edge technology and performance that makes every journey seamless and memorable.

“Lexus’ evolution continues to align with our purpose: for every customer to experience amazing.”

Beyond mobility

Lexus’ presence at JMS was complemented by INTERSECT by Lexus, the brand’s lifestyle hub in Tokyo that brings its design philosophy to life through art, food, technology and culture – no driving required.

“INTERSECT by Lexus symbolises our challenge to go beyond the automobile,” says Andrew. “It’s a creative space for people to connect through ideas, design and craftsmanship – an extension of the singular Lexus experience.”

With Japan welcoming a record 36.87 million international visitors in 2024, including a strong rise in Kiwi travellers, JMS 2025 offers the perfect backdrop for Lexus New Zealand to showcase this innovation through a local lens.

This year, Lexus New Zealand will share exclusive coverage from Tokyo, offering Kiwis a front-row seat to both the futuristic concept reveals at JMS and the immersive experiences at INTERSECT by Lexus.

“Together, they showcase Lexus’ evolution from carmaker to curator of experiences – connecting design-conscious, experience-driven New Zealanders with the future of luxury mobility.”
