B Corp Certification earns a spot on Travalyst’s approved sustainability list.
B Corp Certification has achieved an important milestone in sustainable tourism by joining Travalyst’s list of recognised certifications. Kiwis can now more easily identify and support certified B Corps within the travel industry, answering the growing demand for sustainable travel options.
With the number of certified B Corps in travel globally surging from 19 to nearly 200 in just a few years, Kiwis can make environmentally and socially responsible choices when booking trips.
Travalyst, a global coalition led by some of the world’s largest travel and tech companies, is committed to making sustainable travel accessible and transparent for all. By integrating
B Corp Certification into its sustainability criteria, Travalyst makes it easier for travellers to find businesses that align with values like environmental protection and social responsibility.
This partnership will allow sustainable travel companies to stand out in search tools across platforms like Booking.com, supporting responsible choices at the click of a button.
Locally, New Zealand is home to a growing number of B Corps leading in sustainable tourism. Intrepid Travel has established responsible travel globally and offers authentic, low-impact adventures, while Akaroa Dolphins focusses on conservation-led experiences with small-group tours that protect the local dolphin population. Rotorua Canopy Tours goes beyond tourism by restoring native forests and protecting indigenous wildlife and Lake Hawea Station advocates for regenerative agriculture. Together, these B Corps demonstrate how tourism can directly support New Zealand’s ecosystems and communities.
B Corp Certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Now, this globally respected certification is featured on Travalyst’s list of approved sustainability certifications, standards, and schemes, allowing certified travel companies to stand out in search and booking tools used by Travalyst's major partners. A survey by Booking.com, a Travalyst partner, found that 45% of travellers find sustainable options more appealing, indicating that conscious travel is here to stay.
"Travalyst is driving meaningful change within the travel industry by uniting businesses and consumers to create a more sustainable future," said Andrew Davies, CEO of B Lab Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand. "In today’s era of global travel, it’s clear that our impact on both people and the planet must be central to how we make travel decisions. We’re thrilled to see B Corp Certification playing a key role in this journey."
“Recognition from this selective organisation shows the rigorous standards and credibility of the B Corp Certification process,” said Jared Meyers, co-founder of B Tourism, a global network of B Corps in travel dedicated to the growth of the certification across the industry.
Sally Davey, CEO of Travalyst, notes the importance of such partnerships. “Our goal is to create a critical mass of credible organisations driving positive change in the travel industry. The inclusion of B Corp Certification reflects our shared commitment to making sustainable travel accessible and trustworthy for everyone.”
