The 86 RC (Race Competition) gives Kiwi sports car fans the
chance to create their own statement with a brand new Toyota 86
that arrives box-fresh and ready for customisation; a
sports-orientated 'blank canvas' to tune, paint and accessorise in
any way desired.
Furthering Toyota's commitment to give customers the ability to
own niche, enthusiast models in its range, the 86 RC will be
available from 1st May, 2013 at an exclusive online-only price of
$33,986.
Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Sales and Operations, Steve
Prangnell says, "The fantastic price we're offering the 86 RC for
really underlines just how much we want people to experience
everything this sports car is capable of.
"The 86 already has an enthusiastic following in New Zealand and
this new entry-level 86 RC will help extend this dynamic sports
coupe's availability to an even larger audience."
Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Product and Marketing,
Neeraj Lala says, "Almost everyone in New Zealand is connected to
the web these days. Buying online is an accepted and trusted way of
doing business."
"It's the way the world is moving and it provides enthusiasts with
the ability to purchase niche cars in our range that would
otherwise only be available overseas. There's more choice and, of
course, more of an opportunity to take advantage of great pricing
as a result."
Keen fans purchasing their unique 86 RC via the web-only offer can
feel comfortable and confident securing their car online too.
Vehicles will be delivered through their local Toyota dealer,
ensuring the top quality after sales support they experience is of
the same high standard any Toyota customer receives.
Performance specialists and stylists eager to get their hands on
the 86 RC to see what can be achieved with it are able to choose
from a full range of TRD parts, or locally developed custom
performance accessories.
Examples of the TRD options available include 18" forged alloy
wheels with either Michelin or Potenza tyre packages, exterior side
skirts and front and rear spoilers, a monoblock brake kit and a
Torsen LSD. A range of suspension upgrades are also available,
including adjustable
shocks and springs. TRD developed sports gauges can be added too,
giving the driver additional engine information.
Alternatively customisers can build the sports car of their dreams
with third party components - it's completely up to the
individual.
Boasting the same 147kW two-litre four-cylinder format of its
siblings, the six-speed manual 86 RC strips away the superfluous,
presenting the ultimate opportunity for owners to tell the world
exactly what they're all about in their own style.
There's no audio hardware, for example, because customisers will
prefer to add their own unique system. Also the 86 RC's front and
rear bumper units, exterior mirrors and door handles all ship
unpainted because Toyota knows a tailored paint job will be high on
the prospective owners 'to do' list.
The RC is a true 'blank canvas' sports car, being initially
available only in white. But owners can choose from an extensive
range of colours to finish unpainted panels, offering the ability
to own a uniquely styled 86 unlike any other on Kiwi roads.
Even the air conditioning has been removed for optimal weight
leaving the model's only factory nods to options list finery as its
16" machined graphite alloys and low boot spoiler.
Late last year the 86 capped off its first year on sale by winning
the title of 2012 New Zealand Car of the Year. The model topped
voting across 10 finalists assessed by the New Zealand Motoring
Writers' Guild, who partnered with the New Zealand Automobile
Association in the awards for the first time in 2012. The 86 also
picked up the Sports/Performance category award.
