2013 Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc released

By Wright Communications

A cool Marlborough spring and early summer gave way to a warm, dry autumn which produced perfect conditions to create intensely flavoured wines. Grapes destined for Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc 2013 were carefully managed to ensure yields delivered quality over quantity.

The grapes were picked at night, when temperatures were cool to maintain flavour intensity, before being gently pressed for ferment with aromatic yeasts, with minimal additional handling prior to bottling.

The result is an intensely flavoured Sauvignon Blanc, which in typical Ti Point style is an elegant wine with layers and texture to be shared with friends, food and family.

Tasting Note: Pale straw in appearance. The aroma is pungent and lifted with a tropical medley of passionfruit, gooseberry, white nectarine and box hedge. The palate explodes with vibrant passionfruit flavours, with a ripe fruit entry, rich textural balance and layered citrus aftertaste. Great length and persistence of flavour.

Food match: Calamari lightly dusted with flour salt and pepper, flash fried in hot oil for 60 - 90 seconds. Drain on paper towel then plate and season. Quickly mix together 2 tablespoons mayo, 1 teaspoon sweet chilli sauce, squeeze in juice from a fresh lime, a teaspoon each of finely diced gherkin and capers. Season and serve in a dipping bowl.

Recommended retail price: $22.95.

Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is available at Liquor King stores throughout New Zealand.
