Melanie McKay trained and worked as a mostly newspaper journalist before beginning her next career in communications in local government. A natural curiousity, passion for people and aptitude for storytelling has seen her gather experience across a wide range of sectors and disciplines.
Melanie joined Wright Communications following work on one of Auckland’s most ambitious projects, the transformation of Wynyard Quarter from ‘tank farm’ to one of the most exciting areas in Auckland, and the beginning of the revitalisation of the waterfront.
With Wright Communications Melanie has provided strategic advice and support to a number of our long-term clients, as well as on key projects. Her approach is to work in partnership with them to get to know their business and continually deliver value.
An interest in Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability in particular has led to Melanie developing Moana New Zealand’s first Integrated Report, Wright Communications’ own sustainability report and guide other clients in best practice community engagement as part of their social licence to operate.
When not at work, Melanie is most likely to be found at the beach not far from home playing with her young daughter.
"Wright Communications is a place where the team pours its considerable insights and collective experience into every client in collaborative way, not only to achieve excellent results but to create real, lasting relationships." Melanie McKay
