Group Account Director
Simon Roche has a unique skill-set, mixing expertise in
organisational communications with major events. These diverse
skills are an ideal fit at Wright Communications, which not only
works extensively with the local government sector but also on
major projects. As Senior Account Director at Wright
Communications, he plays a key role in managing the day-to-day
operations of the consultancy.
Simon has more than 15 years' experience in communications,
spending much of that time in local government including at the
Auckland Regional Council before the Super City amalgamation.
He led Auckland's strategic communications for Rugby World Cup 2011
and since joining Wright Communications he has worked on a number
of major events including the Auckland NRL Nines, V8 Supercars
ITM500, the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship, the ICC Cricket
World Cup 2015 and the FIFA Under-20 World Cup 2015.
At Wright Communications, Simon has applied his local government
experience to a range of projects including Auckland Transport's
parking strategy, Auckland Council's Waste Minimisation and
management Plan and ATEED's domestic tourism campaign. He has
also worked with corporate clients such as research firm Colmar
Brunton, Countdown and Elemental Construction Solutions, the
project manager for the restoration of the historic St James

wine connoisseurs, few can match Simon's refined wine palate, which
he developed working in the wine industry where he ended up running
a wine academy and teaching wine appreciation courses.
