John Coker brings a wealth of experience and a passion for
motoring to his role managing the accounts for Toyota and Lexus,
which have long-standing partnerships with Wright
Communications. John has more than 20 years of motor industry
and motorsport public relations experience and has worked with
about a dozen different companies in the industry. He also
publicised the late rally driver Possum Bourne's career, travelling
to Kenya, Sweden, Britain, Australia and around New Zealand for
events. He started his career as a journalist, covering
general news, sports and motoring.
John has been a petrol-head ever since he attended his first
motorsport event as a five-year-old in the family Studebaker.
He has competed in the Rally of NZ eight times and still rallies
occasionally in an historic class Skoda 130 LR. His most
ambitious undertaking was finishing the three-week, 19,000km Round
Australia event in 1995. John also has a passion for vehicles
of the two-wheel variety and is a keen road cyclist and mountain
Married with two adult children, John has lived in South
Auckland all his life and currently resides in Karaka. He
attended Wesley College, the school that later became famous for
producing Jonah Lomu.
